We are God's own people

SUBLIME KINGDOM LIGHT TOPIC: We are God's own people TEXT: 1 Peter 2:9 [9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light(KJV). INTRODUCTION: We are not just ordinary people, we are the ones that God had chosen before the foundation of the world to be His people. Once we were no body but now, grace had made us His own. MESSAGE: Explicitly, God chose us before we were born to be His people, those that He will pour His spirit upon. To be His burden bearers. He did not choose any tribe or race in particular, but those of us who will accept Him and the cross. We were chosen to be a royal priesthood, this cannotes that He did not choose us to make us mediocre, but had chosen us to assume the role and office of a priest. And He gave us authority to act in the name of the Lord, that is what priesthood is all about. Holiness is the attribute of these people He had called. In other words, we don't have option but to live a holy life. Because the family God had made us a partaker to, is a family where holiness abounds. No wonder Jesus said in Matthew 5:48; that we must therefore be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Perfection is the product of a holy living. Finally, God called us to fulfill a predestined purpose. He began by enlightening us on our identity in Christ, those who will accept Him with the crown of thorn and mark of piercing whip He carries. He said that they are the called ones, In order to elucidate the matter of royal priesthood. He deems it appropriate to teach us that the assignment He handed over to us was to proclaim the wonderful deeds of Him that called us. Apparently, we were called to be the witnesses of Christ (God), to declare His mercy, grace and love upon mankind - to those who do not know about Him. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The ultimate purpose for ordaining the royal priesthood is to be the representatives of Christ in the world.
