SUBLIME KINGDOM LIGHT TOPIC: Take No Bribe TEXT: Exodus 23:8 You shall take no bribe, for the bribe blinds those who have sight and perverts the testimony and the cause of the righteous. (AMP) INTRODUCTION: Bribe is a product of flesh. An option dictates from devil with the motives of achieving certain selfish desire. Bribe giving or receiving is an activity God frowns at. We must desist from it. MESSAGE: This is a serious charge that is coming from God to us. That we must not for any reason give or offer any present in form of bribe to anybody, regardless of his personality or situation of the matter. Bribe is an inducement to dishonesty. It is an incentive given for the purpose of acquiring undeserved favour. It is also a present offered in exchange of any special treatment or attention. Bribe births partiality. Giving or receiving bribe portrays lack of probity in a life or system. Every good things (gift) comes from the Lord including good job, marriage, promotion, admission, contract, e.t.c. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights........" James 1:17. We must come to the conception of this ideology and conclude that whatever blessing the Lord didn't give us does not deserve our labour or strive to obtain it. Bribe is like an arrow shot in the heart of a man to influence His sense of morality and basis of judgement. When bribe is given or collected from a person to dispense any unmerited goodness, it has the disposition to affect one's attitude and value. The practice of bribe exchange is another strategy of promoting injustice and corruption in a field. Bribe still is a disguised tool the devil uses to weaken the sensitivity of our hearts to the cautionary signals produced by our conscience. Our conscience keep dying everyday because we keep submiting to the dictates of flesh. But unfortunately, we live in a world where bribe has become a legal grant and a value in our government system. If you want to be recruited or accepted as a worker in any sector, you must present an inducement either of your body as a lady or money if otherwise. And consequently exposes our hearts, lives and the world at large to a great extent of darkness that only repentance can remediate. Yet, we are not of the world, so we must be different and stand out for uprightness and holiness. Another effect of bribe exchange from our passage is that it subverts the cause of those who are at right. It perverts the words of a righteous man and places him in a bias system of belief and reaction to issues. Engaging in the exchange of bribe whether giving or receiving is not just a sin, but a huge compromise of our faith. Let it be accounted to the grace of God as the guaranty of every blessing that comes our way. This is way we must resolve to praying for God's favour instead of struggling for man's favour with bribe. When it seems not forthcoming or hard to get, go to God and settle it with Him in prayer. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Bribe is an instrument of devil to drift us away from the trust on God as the only source of all blessing. COUNSEL: Stick to prayer and have the resolution of it as the only option. No alternative! PRAYER: Lord give me the grace to overcome every temptation of bribe exchange. in Jesus name.. Grant answer to all my desires of your blessings in Jesus name..
