SUBLIME KINGDOM LIGHT TOPIC: Love for the world TEXT: 1 John 2 :15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (KJV) INTRODUCTION: Love for the world takes us away from the love for God. To be intimately related to God, we must love not the world; rather we must be consumed with the love for God. MESSAGE: The desire to be like the world starts immediately the affection and care for the things of the world has been ignited. It arouses the cravings to copy the standards of ungodly men. When a man loves the world, it is to the detriment of the affection and relationship he has with God. The love for God dies immediately love for the pleasures and possessions of the world creeps in. Friends, the word of God is appealing to us this morning, saying; love not the world or the things in the world. Because if any man loves the world, the love for God dies in his heart. It is important that we know that nobody who loves the world can love God concurrently. Several people got disaligned from God's programme for their destiny, immediately they began to set their minds on the worldly treasures. Because the love for the world leads to the caring attraction towards the worldly system. This appreciates that, we become exposed to sins and iniquity any time our hearts begins to delight in things of the world. No wonder Dermas shifted from the alignment of gospel, it was because of love for this present world ( 2 Timothy 4:10). This worldly love disassociates one from God, it makes us to be far from God. For God has nothing to do with anyone that is attached and attracted to the world. However, another implication for loving the world is that it births lust of flesh, lust of eyes and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). These are the things that lead men safely into sin. When the preoccupation, happiness and satisfaction of man lies in all the things he had acquired in this space; he will begin to misbehave, pride and other ungodly trait will sprang up in the heart, causing him to err and rebel. Therefore, we must be overwhelmed and consumed by our love for God in order to access Him. For love begets intimacy. He searches the heart of men, and avails Himself to men who love Him wholeheartedly. Christ seeks for those who can reciprocate the love He gave to them. They are the ones that can birth the fire of revival. Men who embrace the fire of revival with their hearts of love, not love for the world. FOOD FOR THOUGHT: For this the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. COUNSEL: Embrace God with your heart of love so as to gain the intimacy with Him. PRAYER : Oh God deliver me from every cares of life that fight against your love in my life in Jesus name.
